2023 in Books

I haven't been able to read as much as I wanted to this year, but it's better than the last two years when I almost stopped reading altogether. I've been focusing more on productivity and business topics. Reading books on these topics has been easier for me or maybe I didn't put enough effort into finding good titles.

At the beginning of the year, I just skimmed through some books like [[Building a Second Brain]], [[Deep Work]], and [[The Bullet Journal Method]]. They had some good ideas, but they were just extensions of the blogs. I also picked up a few books that I didn't finish or just skimmed to satisfy my curiosity, but they don't need to be listed.

The best book I read this year was [[Clear Thinking]] by Shane Parrish. As a long-time reader of FS content, I love the insights that Shane provides. So when his book came out, I grabbed a copy and read it twice. It's a gem of a book, filled with actionable insights.

Towards the end of the year, I started reading some heavier stuff like [[The Atlas of AI]] by Kate Crawford, which explores the dark side of technical developments of AI. I also picked up [[The Silk Roads]], which is quite a deep dive into history as seen from a trade and commerce perspective.

Next year, I have many books lined up, and one genre I want to explore is leadership, specifically self-development for leadership. I also want to get back to reading poetry, which I haven't done in a long time. Additionally, I might read some fiction to help improve my reading skills, which are a bit rusty.
